Singapore retains title of world's most powerful passport

Singapore remains as the most powerful passport

Singapore remains as the most powerful passport of the world offering visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations, in the latest rankings released in early 2025, according to the index published by Henley & Partners, a London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm.

Japan now ranked second globally, providing its passport holders visa-free access to 193 destinations.

Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain share the third position, granting visa-free access to 192 destinations.

The UAE stands out as one of the index's biggest success stories in global mobility. It has added 72 visa-free destinations since 2015, climbing 32 places to reach 10th spot with access to 185 destinations.

At the bottom of the ranking, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan have the world's least powerful passports.

The Henley Passport Index tracks global travel freedoms in 227 countries and territories using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association.

It ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without a prior visa. Continuously updated throughout the year to reflect changes in visa policies, the index is widely recognized as a key measure of global mobility.
