Bangladesh gets $131.22mn remittances in 15 days

Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent home a total of $131.22 million in remittances in the first 15 days of February averaging around $8.74 million per day.

The information was published by Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Sunday (February 16).

Remittance inflows in January averaged $7.28 million per day, and in February of the previous year, the daily inflow was $7.21 million, according Bangladesh Bank data.

The highest monthly remittance inflow in recent times was recorded in December 2024, with daily remittances totaling $8.79 million. The figure for February so far shows a slight increase over January, said report.

The data also revealed that state-owned commercial banks received $46.65 million, while the state-run Agrani Bank received $8.87 million. 

Private commercial banks accounted for $75.39 million, and foreign banks received $3 million in remittances.

The highest single-bank remittance inflow during this period was through Islami Bank Bangladesh, which received $16.98 million in remittances on February 15.
