Bangladesh widens market share in global RMG trade
Bangladesh achieved a higher share of global garment trade last year and retained its second position among apparel-exporting nations, according to data released by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on Monday.
Bangladesh's share in garment trade rose to 7.90% in 2022 from 6.40% the previous year.
China continued to remain the largest exporter of garments in the global market with a 31.7% market share.
Vietnam was the third-largest apparel exporter in 2022, grabbing 6.1% market share, the WTO said in its World Trade Statistical Review 2023.
Bangladesh exported garment items worth $45 billion last year, the data showed.
China exported apparel worth $182 billion and Vietnam shipped products amounting to $35 billion in 2022, according to WTO data.
