Bangladesh's forex reserves bounce back to $25.82bn

Gross foreign currency reserves of Bangladesh have increased to$25.82 billion, but as per Balance Of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6), the amount is $20.41 billion.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Executive Director and Spokesperson Md Mezbaul Haque yesterday shared the information during a media briefing at the central bank headquarters in Dhaka.

He said that the foreign currency reserves rose to $25.82 billion after $1.09 billion in loans from two global lenders -- the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) -- were added to the central bank's account.

Of the sum, $689 million came from the IMF and $400 million from the ADB, he mentioned.

On Dec 7, Bangladesh's gross reserves, according to the BPM6, stood at $19.13 billion. However, the central bank's estimates put it at $24.66 billion.
