Japan to continue support Bangladesh's development: Salehuddin
Adviser to the Ministries of Finance and Commerce of Bangladesh Dr Salehuddin Ahmed yesterday said that Japan has given positive assurance to continue its support in development of the country.
"We discussed on various bilateral issues, including trade, investment and employment. Japan is very happy regarding the ongoing stability of Bangladesh. There is no more questions, no more ambivalence about them (Japan). Rather, they will negotiate with more projects for the future," he said.
The adviser said this while talking to reporters after meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh IWAMA Kiminori at the Finance Ministry in Dhaka.
In his speech, Salehuddin said that Japan has expressed its keenness to increase support in various sectors, including health and education and private sector investment.
"We sought budgetary support and more investment in private sector. They (Japan) told us about reforms in banking sector, National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Customs. They want a business-friendly environment in the country. I confirmed that the business environment will be improved immediately," he added.
