European stocks waver at the open

European equities wavered at the open on Monday as investors look ahead to a meeting of global central bankers later this week.

London's FTSE 100 fell 0.2% to 8,296.85 points and the Frankfurt DAX shed 0.1% to 18,305.34.

The Paris CAC 40 index rose almost 0.1% to 7,455.30 points.

Central bank chiefs will meet at the annual Jackson Hole symposium in Wyoming, with all eyes on whether Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell will give more signals about US interest rate cuts during his speech on Friday.
