Pakistan shoots down Indian quadcopter along LoC
The Pakistan army said Wednesday evening that it had shot down an Indian spying quadcopter along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir region. In a statement_ the military said that the quadcopter was shot down after it "intruded 500 meters inside Pakistan s side of the Line of Control a de facto border that divides the disputed Himalayan valley between the two nuclear rivals. This is the 11th Indian quadcopter shot down by Pakistan Army this year_ the statement added. There was no immediate word from the Indian side over the incident. The incident coincides with escalating tensions between the two neighbors_ particularly after New Delhi's scrapping of the disputed Jammu and Kashmir's longstanding semi-autonomous status August last year. Some Kashmiri groups in Jammu and Kashmir have been fighting against Indian rule for independence_ or unification with neighboring Pakistan. Tension has been heightened after India lifted the special status for the Indian-controlled Kashmir in August 2019. Pakistan downgraded its diplomatic relations_ suspended trade relations and train service with India in response. -Source: Anadolu Agency
